Dr. Xiaozhen(Shawn) Xiong is a physical scientist affiliated with at the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) of the NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS) since 2001 to present. He was as employed by Earth Resources Technology Inc. from 2014- May 2016, working on CrIS radiometric instrument calibration and near-real time CrIS full spectrum data processing. Now he is an employee of I.M. Systems Group Inc. and continue on retrieval of trace gases (CO2, CH4, CO, N2O) using hyperspectral infrared sounders, a field he has been involved in since 2005. His research interests include radiative transfer modeling, development of retrieval algorithms, validation of satellite remote sensing products and their applications for climate change and air quality studies. He received his B.Eng. degree in 1988 from Chengdu University of Information & Technology (former Chengdu Institute of Meteorology), China, a Master's Degree in Atmospheric Physics from the Chinese Academy of Science (1991), and a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from University of Alaska Fairbanks (2000).
