Bio

Ms. Renee Tatusko is the International and Arctic Policy Coordinator at the NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Alaska Region Headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska, where she joined the staff in September 2014. In this position, Renee is guiding the strategic management of the NWS portfolio for Arctic-related activities to support NOAA objectives and goals. She also supports NWS AR membership on the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Executive Council Panel of Experts on Polar and High-mountain Observations, Research, and Services (EC PHORS), the Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW), the developing pan-Arctic Polar Regional Climate Center (PRCC) initiative, and facilitates research to operations work from the WMO Polar Prediction Project (PPP) and its flagship activity, the Year of Polar Prediction. Renee provides support to the U.S. Permanent Representative to the WMO in the preparation of annual Executive Council meetings and WMO Congresses. She also liaises with the Department of State-led Arctic Policy Group and has orchestrated NWS AR engagement in several projects of the U.S. Chairmanship for the Arctic Council, including the USCG/USAF-led Search and Rescue field tabletop exercise in the Bering Sea. Renee has a B.S. in meteorology from Florida State University and a Master's degree in International Affairs from The American University in Washington, D.C. She also has PhD coursework from the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Maryland.
