The Norwegian Nansen Legacy project invites abstracts for the Nansen Legacy International Symposium: Towards a New Arctic Ocean – Past, Present, Future. This conference will convene 7-9 November 2023 in Tromsø, Norway.
The symposium aims to integrate results across the international pan-Arctic efforts to close central knowledge gaps in understanding the climate and ecosystems in the Arctic.
Organizers welcome contributions from the international research community and discussions across Earth system science to shed light on and reveal both regional characteristics, connections, and pan-Arctic responses. Contributions and discussions on how the Arctic Ocean is changing and what it will look like in the near future are welcome.
Six sessions with oral and poster presentations will provide disciplinary focus across regions, and regional focus across disciplines. While the Nansen Legacy project has focused on the rapidly changing northern Barents Sea shelf and adjacent Arctic Basin, organizers strive for participation representing the Pan-Arctic heterogeneity to exchange knowledge and to connect science, regions, and humans.
