Faculty Specialist - GeoInnovation Center Operations Manager

The Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland invites applications for a Faculty Specialist/Senior Faculty Specialist to serve as the Center Operations Manager for the new International Center for Innovation in Geospatial Analytics and Earth Observation (GeoInnovation Center). The position will initially be for three years, and may be renewable, and will be located in College Park, Maryland.

The Center Operations Manager will work with the Director and Center leadership to help build the GeoInnovation Center and put it on a sustainable funding track.

Tasks include:

  • Developing corporate and foundation partnerships;
  • Providing Center outreach – website, twitter accounts, media news items, and materials (e.g., slide decks, poster templates, one-pagers);
  • Coordinating international partnerships and the associated communications;
  • Organizing and run the Annual Partners Meeting;
  • Leading the Center annual reporting; and
  • Helping organize Center meetings, visitors, and associated Center logistics.

Applicants should have a BA/BSc and strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. In general, a Faculty Specialist should have of a Bachelor’s degree and a Senior Faculty Specialist should have a Master’s degree and research experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus three years of work experience.
