The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a postdoctoral position in ice and climate physics. This full-time, temporary position will be located in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The successful applicant will be involved in research projects related to recent sea ice changes, the decay and climate impact of icebergs, ice-ocean interactions, and calving at tidewater glaciers and ice shelves. The research will require mathematical and physical analyses of idealized models of the atmosphere-ocean-ice system and more comprehensive climate or ice models.
A PhD or equivalent degree in physical oceanography, ocean sciences, or a related discipline is required. Strong mathematical skills and experience with climate or ice models is desirable.
This position will remain open until filled, however priority consideration will be given to applications received by 1 October 2018. The duration of the position is expected to be two years, contingent on progress during the first year and availability of funds.
