The Integrated Arctic Observing System (INTAROS) announces the availability of the Proceedings from the Community-Based Monitoring (CBM) Workshop. This workshop focused on the use of information for natural resource management and cooperation between scientist-executed and community-based programs.
On 10 May 2017 Arctic Indigenous community members, researchers, and decision makers involved in community-based monitoring came together for the INTAROS Community-Based Monitoring Experience Exchange Workshop during the Week of the Arctic.
The goal of the workshop was to exchange experiences and perspectives in order to provide guidance to the research community about how to best support CBM work and discuss areas where more knowledge is needed. Ten established CBM programs sent representatives allowing for rich, in-depth discussions.
The workshop was funded by the European Union-funded INTAROS and organized by a host committee that included representatives of INTAROS, the International Arctic Research Center at University of Alaska Fairbanks, Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council, and Exchange for Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic.
The report is available through the INTAROS website for free download.
