Dear Colleague:
I am writing to invite participation in the ARCUS 12th Annual Meeting and Arctic
Forum 2000 in Washington D.C. 17-19 May 2000. All sessions of the meeting will
be held at the Holiday Inn Capitol located at 550 C Street SW in Washington D.C.
In addition to highlighting important arctic research through our annual science
symposium, Arctic Forum, the ARCUS annual meeting serves to gather member
institution representatives, the board of directors, and the staff of ARCUS
together with other members of the arctic research community and key agency
personnel and policy makers.
Arctic Forum
You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral and/or poster presentation
for the Arctic Forum, scheduled for Wednesday, 17 May and Thursday, 18 May.
The Arctic Forum will be chaired by Dr. Wieslaw Maslowski, of the Naval
Postgraduate School, and will include invited and contributed talks by arctic
researchers representing diverse disciplines, projects, and programs. This
year the Arctic Forum will focus on the environmental changes observed and
modeled in the Arctic and their interactions with people and the global
climate. Dr. Warren M. Washington of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division
of the National Center for Atmospheric Research will give the keynote address.
The four student recipients of the fourth annual ARCUS Award for Arctic
Research Excellence also will present their award-winning papers during
the Forum.
Additional information about the Arctic Forum program and invited speakers is
available on the ARCUS web site, at
http://www.arcus.org/annual_meeting_00/fr_index.html, as well as forms to
submit an abstract and register for the meeting. A detailed program will be
distributed by email and posted on this site in late April 2000.
Fill out the meeting registration form if you plan to attend any of the ARCUS
meetings, the Arctic Forum, or the banquet. Fill out an abstract submittal
form if you wish to give an oral or poster presentation.
