Third Gordon Research Conference on Polar Marine Sciences
11-16 March 2001
Ventura, California
The focus of this conference will be "Field Analyses and Numerical
Modeling of Coupled Physical, Chemical, and Biological Systems".
The Gordon Research Conferences provide a high-quality format designed
to foster creative activities in science and enhance productive
interactions among researchers in the international community. The
program (http://www.grc.uri.edu) consists of invited presentations and
organized discussion on new, innovative frontier research. Poster
presentations by all participants are also strongly encouraged. Sessions
are held in the mornings and some evenings of the conference week,
leaving afternoons free for informal discussions. Free and unhampered
discussion is the hallmark of the Gordon Research Conferences, owing to
its off-the-record policy and prohibition on publication of Conference
proceedings.
Admission is by acceptance by the conference chairman of an application,
which are available online at http://www.grc.uri.edu. The number of
participants is also limited (135) to ensure individual participation in
discussion is maximized, while bringing together the diversity of
participants necessary to cover the ongoing work of the particular
field.
The conference chair is Barbara Prezelin (barbara [at] icess.ucsb.edu) and
the vice chair is Robin Muench.
