Zackenberg Station (http://www.zackenberg.dk) is a research station
situated in a very diverse High Arctic ecosystem in NE Greenland
(74°30' N, 20°30' W). The station is owned by the Danish Polar
Center, can accommodate 20 scientists at a time, and is open for use
in June-August. The station has all basic laboratory facilities for
arctic research. Danish Polar Center takes care of all logistics
involved in coming to the station and staying at the station.
Three different monitoring programmes (BioBasis, GeoBasis and
ClimateBasis) are operating at the station focusing on the dynamics of
the ecosystem. BioBasis monitors the dynamics of selected biotic
ecosystem parameters, GeoBasis monitors the dynamics of the abiotic
environment, and ClimateBasis monitors climate and river water
discharge. Data from the monitoring programmes can be used free of
charge by scientists working from the station.
Until recently, it has been rather expensive to get to the station. Due
to additional support provided by the Danish government it has, however,
been possible to reduce the price of a roundtrip ticket from Copenhagen
to Zackenberg from 26,000 Danish Kroner to 15,000 Danish Kroner.

programmes can be found at: http://www.zackenberg.dk
