10th Call for Proposals to the
Large Scale Facility for Arctic Environmental Research (Ny-Alesund LSF)
Ny-Alesund, Svalbard, Norway
DEADLINE for proposals is: 1 October 2001
Under the "Access to Research Infrastructures" activity of the "Human
Research Potential" programme of the European Community, access will be
provided for new European researchers to the Ny-Alesund International
Arctic Environmental Research and Monitoring Facility in Ny-Alesund,
Svalbard, Norway. Interested European research groups and scientists are
invited to submit scientific research proposals on arctic environmental
research within the following disciplines:
- Marine and terrestrial biology
- Climate research in the troposphere and stratosphere
- Surface phenomena, snow and ice
- Space geodesy
- Air quality research and arctic pollution
- Multidisciplinary environmental sciences
Access is offered under this programme for research groups from Member
States and Associated States of the European Union. Subject to a
scientific evaluation procedure, the selected projects are offered
reimbursement of all travel and subsistence costs (only) for their
project campaigns in Ny-Alesund. Access is available to the following
research installations:
- Atmospheric Climate Research and Biological Research Facilities of
the Norwegian Polar Institute (NP)
- Atmospheric Air Research Facility of NP and the Norwegian Institute
for Air Research (NILU)
- Atmospheric Observatory of the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI)
- Space Geodetic Research Facility of the Norwegian Mapping Authority
(NMA)
- The Natural Environment Research Council Research Station (NERC)
- The general infrastructure, local food, and lodging provided by the
Kings Bay Company (KB)
