Dear Colleague,

We are convening a special session at the Fall AGU 2001 Meeting in San
Francisco, 10-14 December 2001 entitled:

IPO2: Monitoring an Evolving Crysophere: The 25th Anniversary of NSIDC
(National Snow and Ice Data Center)

Moderators: Dr. Anne Nolin (nolin [at] kryos.colorado.edu) and
Dr. Ted Scambos (teds [at] kryos.colorado.edu)

Abstract Deadline by mail: 30 August 2001
Abstract Deadline for electronic submisions: 6 September 2001, 1400 UTC
(The first author must be a current AGU member)

Special Session Abstract:

Our ability to measure and monitor the remote polar and alpine regions
of the earth improved dramatically in the last quarter-century; and as
records and measurements improved, we recognized important changes
underway in the cryosphere. We solicit reports that highlight the use of

cryospheric data sets and new monitoring and measurement techniques to
investigate the earth's cryosphere, including floating ice, snow cover,
glaciers, frozen ground, polar climate, and the great ice sheets.

There will be up to four contributed speakers and an afternoon poster
session.

Please contact us if you have questions about the session.
