Prior to the 2002 Fall American Geophysical Union
(http://agu.org/meetings/fm02/) meeting, a series of ARCSS PI and
science steering committee meetings will be held at the San Francisco
Hilton, December 4-5, 2002.
These meetings will include the annual Russian-American Initiative for
Shelf-Land Environments in the Arctic (RAISE) PI and steering committee
meeting, including a joint meeting with other ARCSS components. For more
information specifically on the RAISE/Land-Shelf Interactions (LSI)
meeting, including a draft agenda outline for the joint ARCSS steering
committee meeting on 5 December, please see:

Representatives and/or steering committees from the Human Dimensions of
the Arctic System (HARC), Land-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (LAII),
Community-wide Hydrological Analysis and Monitoring Program
(Arctic-CHAMP), Shelf-Basin Interactions (SBI), the Science Advisory
Group for the Barrow Arctic Science Consortium and other ARCSS
components are also expected for the joint meeting on 5 December. This
open meeting will be particularly of interest for discussion of current
and emerging ARCSS research projects, including SBI, CHAMP, Pan-arctic
Cycles Transitions and Sustainability (PACTS), and Land-Shelf
Interactions (LSI), which has also been known as the Nearshore
Initiative. More information about the joint ARCSS meeting will be
distributed via ArcticInfo in late October.
For those interested in attending this open meeting, a block of rooms
