Proposals due December 3, 2002
Biological, physical and other quantitative scientists who may be
interested in working on salmon-bearing watersheds and adjacent marine
areas of Norton Sound should be aware of an important funding
opportunity to be announced October 8th, with proposals due December
3rd, 2002. Salmon runs originating in tributaries of Norton Sound have
declined substantially over the past 15 years, to the point of creating
a state of disaster in some localities. Disaster relief funding has been
provided for studies to identify the causes of decline or to
rehabilitate the runs. Proposals are evaluated via an independent peer
review process, according to criteria indicated in the RFP, as
established by a science planning document available on the web.
