Dear Colleagues,
This message is to let you know that there will be an opportunity to
learn more about NSF's Arctic System Science Program during the upcoming
December AGU meeting in San Francisco.
The Ocean-Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (OAII) component of ARCSS in
collaboration with the Russian-American Initiative on Shelf-Land
Environments in the Arctic (RAISE) will host an open meeting on
Saturday, 7 December, starting at 6:30 P.M. in room 274 of the Moscone
Center. We hope to also have representatives of some of the other ARCSS
components ? Land Atmosphere-Ice Interactions (LAII), Human Dimensions
of the Arctic System (HARC), and Panarctic Community-wide Hydrological
Analysis and Monitoring Program (CHAMP) ? in attendance as well.
We will give a brief overview of ARCSS, discuss and solicit input on the
future direction of the ARCSS program, progress on the Study of
Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH), and new research initiatives under
consideration by OAII, LAII, and RAISE. One of the new initiatives
involves chemical and biochemical transformations and exchanges between
the upper Arctic Ocean and the adjacent atmosphere, and a second is a
study of nearshore-coastal processes.
We look forward to seeing you there.
