Bowdoin College invites applications for a one year scholar-in-residence
postdoctoral position in coastal biology, beginning August 1, 2003 at
its Coastal Studies Center (CSC). Research areas of interest include
ecology, evolution, paleontology, physiology and/or population biology
of coastal organisms. This position provides opportunities for research
and teaching at the CSC's running-seawater laboratory or at a
terrestrial field site adjacent the ocean. The scholar will maintain an
active research program, teach a seminar course during one semester, and
supervise undergraduate research.
The CSC is located on Orr's Island, 20 minutes from campus. It includes
118 acres of forests and fields with 2.5 miles of marine shoreline,
marine and terrestrial laboratories and a renovated farmhouse where the
scholar will reside. Stipend is $20,000 plus housing and is benefits
eligible. Applicants must have received, or anticipated receiving, a
Ph.D. between Aug. 1, 1997 and Aug. 1, 2003.
