The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) invites applications for
a research faculty position. The rank and salary of the position will
depend on qualifications and experience. IARC provides a
state-of-the-art research environment that is focused on detection of
Arctic climate change and variability, understanding basic mechanisms
and feedbacks related to arctic climate, and investigating arctic
climate in the context of the global climate system. IARC scientists are
engaged in research aimed at establishing a long-term monitoring system
in the Arctic Ocean. Our program encompasses both the Nansen and
Amundsen Basins Observational System (NABOS) and the Canadian Basins
Observational System (CABOS). Oceanographic moorings equipped with the
latest technologies are the primary measurement platform to be used in
the program.
Applicants with a strong interest and background in high-latitude
physical oceanography are encouraged to apply. Desired qualifications
include research interests in fundamental oceanographic processes using
modern instrumental observations and theoretical studies. The successful
applicant will pursue research in physical oceanography, with particular
emphasis on high-latitude field observations and analysis of
observational data.
