SYMPOSIUM SPECIFICS
The eighth symposium deals specifically with remote sensing applications
in polar environments. It will provide an international forum for the
discussion of work currently being carried out in the circumpolar
regions.
The following topics will be discussed:
- Environmental monitoring
- Wildlife management and habitat protection
- Arctic vegetation
- Land and water management
- Pollution control
- Snow and ice
- Climatology
- Geology
- Oceanography
- Mineral and oil and gas exploration
- Archaeology
- Data processing
- Geographic information system
This symposium will be of interest to scientists, scholars, and industry
and government professionals involved in renewable and non-renewable
resource management in polar environments. The symposium will provide a
forum for the exchange of current applied international research, the
presentation of new technology, and the advancement of internal
co-operation in the circumpolar regions of the world.
The Symposium will be held in Chamoix, France. This city is one of the
most famous places in the Alps, at the bottom of the Mont-Blanc and close
to Switzerland and Italy.
This symposium is organized by the Laboratory THEMA and the
interdisciplinary group Reseau Arctique, both belonging to the French
National Research Council and Franche-Comte University.
