The ARCUS 16th Annual Meeting and Arctic Forum 2004, to be held 13-14
May 2004 in Washington, DC, will gather scientists, agency
representatives, and community members to discuss important issues
relevant to Arctic research, policy, logistics, and advocacy for Arctic
programs. All sessions will be held at the Washington Terrace Hotel
located in downtown Washington, DC.
ARCTIC FORUM
The scientific focus of this year's Arctic Forum is "Recent Decrease of
the Arctic Sea Ice: Its Causes, Consequences, and Historical
Perspective." The Arctic Forum agenda includes invited presentations, as
well as posters on all areas of arctic research. The agenda is at:

POSTER SUBMISSION
A poster session and reception will be held Thursday, 13 May. Posters on
any aspect of arctic research are encouraged and will be reviewed and
accepted upon submission. You are invited to submit through the online
abstract submission form at:

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: The abstract submission deadline has been extended
to Monday, 3 May 2004.
RECEPTION AND BANQUET
The annual Reception and Banquet will be held Thursday evening, 13 May
2004. The Reception and poster session will begin at 5:10 p.m. and the
Banquet is at 6:30 p.m.
The reception includes posters on arctic research, a hosted bar, and a
variety of light finger foods for all participants. The public is
welcome.
The banquet immediately follows the reception and will include a full
plated dinner. We encourage all meeting participants to attend. Members
of the public are welcome to attend the banquet for a $40.00 fee. Guest
tickets may be purchased at the meeting registration site, however,
reservations must be made beforehand.
Banquet Reservation Deadline: Friday, 7 May 2004
COUNCIL FORUM
The Council Forum, scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, 14 May
includes presentations from member institution representatives and
sessions on various issues of interest to the research community and
member institutions. The Council Forum provides an excellent opportunity
for the community to discuss arctic research programs, initiatives, and
coordination.
REGISTRATION
The registration deadline for participants requiring accommodations at
the Washington Terrace Hotel is Friday, 23 April 2004. The registration
deadline for participants not requiring accommodations is Monday, 3 May
