interested in interactions between climate processes and ecosystem
change in the Arctic. Students with a background in any relevant field
of biological or physical sciences or engineering and a strong interest
in interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. The assistantship
will support research related to interactions between changes in
climate, snow cover, vegetation, and carbon cycling in northern Alaska.
The graduate program is one of the National Research Council top-ranked
ecology programs in the U.S. Students have the benefit of interacting
with six faculty members with extensive experience in arctic or
antarctic research. In addition, the University of Minnesota
Biosphere-Atmosphere Interactions group and the Minnesota Supercomputing
Institute provide excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary
training. Graduate research assistantships provide a full tuition
waiver, a stipend, and benefits.
