13th International Hibernation Symposium

The 13th International Hibernation Symposium will be held on 6-12 August
2008 in Swakopmund, Namibia, Africa. Proposed sessions will cover all
areas associated with controlled hypometabolism, from the molecular to
the ecological level.
Symposium sessions include:
- Biomedical applications: the cutting edge;
- Evolution of torpor and hibernation: molecular insights;
- Gene expression;
- Molecular aspects;
- Thermal and metabolic physiology during hypothermia;
- Neuro- and chronobiology;
- Cryobiology;
- Ectotherms;
- Birds;
- Mammals;
- Lipids in Cold Adaptation; and
- Bats.
Manuscripts are invited from both presenters and attendees for a book to
be distributed at the symposium. Submitted chapters will be subject to a
peer review process. Manuscripts should be no more than 3,500 words and
must be submitted by 31 October 2007.
