The physical oceanography group at the School of Fisheries and Ocean
Sciences (SFOS) has openings for Masters and PhD students in Physical
Oceanography starting in spring 2009.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a background in physics,
mathematics, engineering, or environmental science and possess strong
computer skills. Students can work with faculty on active field programs
in high-latitude oceans using cutting edge instrumentation, theory, and
numerical models. Incoming students will have the flexibility to design
projects that fit their interests. An annual stipend will be provided at
$27,700 USD for Masters students and $33,500 USD for PhD students with
tuition and health care coverage provided.
SFOS has added two new faculty, bringing the group to five: Mark
Johnson, Zygmunt
Kowalik, Peter Winsor, Tom Weingartner, and Harper Simmons.
