The Division of Subsistence at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game
seeks an experienced social scientist to scientifically gather,
quantify, evaluate, and report information about customary and
traditional uses of fish and wildlife resources in Western, Interior and
Northern Alaska.
This is a full-time seasonal position that will work approximately 11
months per year, depending upon the availability of funds. The
successful applicant will work with local communities and wild resource
users to research, quantify, and provide results to the public,
fisheries and wildlife management programs, and to the Alaska Board of
Game and Alaska Board of Fisheries for evaluating reasonable
opportunities for customary and traditional uses. Strong written and
oral communication skills, technical writing, and computer skills are
highly desirable.
