Soil, aquatic and air ecology, physiology and taxonomy of cyanobacteria and algae in cold environments, especially in the Arctic and Antarctic. Microbial primary succession on deglaciated landscapes. Presence of cyanobacteria and algae in ice cores and aeroplankton. Limnology. Physiology. Aerobiology.
