Dr. Paul Cutler Appointed Program Director

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Paul Cutler as Program
Director for the Antarctic Integrated System Science (AISS) Program
within the Antarctic Sciences Section of the Division of Polar Programs,
Directorate for Geosciences at the National Science Foundation (NSF).
This appointment was effective on 13 December 2015.
Paul has been with NSF for the past five years, serving as Program
Director for the Geomorphology and Frontiers in Earth System Dynamics
Programs in the Division of Earth Sciences. Paul has also served in
detail assignments as Program Director for Antarctic Glaciology as well
as Acting Section Head and Acting Division Director in the Division of
Earth Sciences.
Prior to his work at NSF, he directed work on polar and global change
science at the International Council for Science in Paris and at the
Polar Research Board of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Paul has
conducted research in Antarctica and the Arctic, and in the mountains of
Switzerland, Pakistan, and Canada. His postdoc at the University of
Wisconsin focused on Laurentide Ice Sheet dynamics. Paul earned his
B.Sc. (Honors) from Manchester University, his M.Sc. from the University
of Toronto, and his Ph.D. From the University of Minnesota.
