Arctic-COLORS Draft Report
NASA Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry Program
The Arctic-Coastal Land Ocean Interactions (Arctic-COLORS) science team
has announced a call for community comments on the draft report for the
NASA Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry (OBB) program. Online comments
will be accepted through Thursday, 17 September 2015.
The draft report describes the candidate field campaign, Arctic-COLORS,
which has the goal to determine present and future impacts of
terrigenous, atmospheric and oceanic fluxes on ecology, biogeochemistry,
biodiversity and ecosystem services of the Arctic coastal zone. This
scoping study report describes and justifies the science objectives,
design and implementation plan of an integrative and interdisciplinary
field campaign, modeling and remote sensing program.
Sections of the draft report include:
- Section 1 describes the motivation for the Arctic-COLORS program.
- Section 2 describes the engagement of the broader scientific community.
- Section 3 describes overarching objective and science questions.
- Section 4 describes the science plan - study domain, research phases
and timeline of the field campaign, measurements, remote sensing, and
modeling activities. - Section 5 describes the implementation plan.
This call for comments provides opportunity for the community to refine
the science and scope of the Arctic-COLORS program. The science team
will revise the report prior to its final submission to NASA, which will
proceed with a peer-reviewed and programmatic evaluation of
Arctic-COLORS.
The draft report is posted and open to all for comment. Please refer to
a page and a paragraph number (e.g. Page 15, 2nd paragraph) in comment
if applicable.
