The Arctic Institute of North America (AINA) announces a call for
applications to the 2014 Grant-in-Aid program. The awards aim to provide
funding to augment research efforts of young investigators, especially
graduate students.
Application Deadline: Saturday, 1 February 2014.
The grants are $1,000 each and can be used for travel, supplies,
equipment, and services, but not for salary or wages. There is no
limitation on the area of investigation. However, applications that
focus on the natural sciences and social sciences, including
anthropology and economics in the North are encouraged. Projects can
entail field, library, or office-intensive investigations.
AINA is a non-profit membership organization and multidisciplinary
research institute of the University of Calgary. Its mandate includes
advancing the study of the Arctic through the natural and social
sciences, the arts, and humanities. Created as a bi-national corporation
in 1945, the Institute's United States Corporation is housed at the
University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Applications should not exceed four pages double-spaced. A title,
introduction, objectives, methodology, anticipated results, period of
performance, and proposed use for the AINA award should be clearly
stated. Total estimated budget for the project should be provided on a
separate page and should clearly identify other anticipated and
committed sources and amounts of funding. Awardees are expected to
become members of the AINA.
