Dear Colleague,
A database containing more than 10,500 records describing research
projects conducted in Canada's three northern territories since 1974 is
now available for free searching on the Web. The Northern Research
Activity database is available from the main page of the Arctic
Institute of North America's Web site at http://www.ucalgary.ca/aina/.
The Northern Research Activity database has been prepared with the
cooperation of the organizations that licence research in northern
Canada, and is a subset of the Arctic Science and Technology Information
System (ASTIS) database. The idea of creating a Northern Research
Activity Web site arose from the 1998 Workshop on the Co-ordination of
Federal Northern Science and Technology which was initiated by the
Interdepartmental Committee on Northern Science and Technology.
The database can be searched by subject, geographic region,
investigator, organization, year, words in the title and words in the
abstract. I would be interested in knowing whether researchers find
this database useful, and how it could be improved.
Thanks,
Ross Goodwin
