Join the Denali Institute, the National Park Service, and the new Murie
Science and Learning Center this summer to explore the vast ecosystems
and vibrant cultures of the far north. Classes are small, but the
classrooms are grand - the mountains, forests, and tundra of Denali
National Park.
Most field seminars and teacher trainings are based out of the Murie
Science and Learning Center's remote field camp 35 miles inside Denali
National Park. Fees start at $150 USD, and most include accommodations,
meals, instruction, and transportation within the Park. All courses are
accredited through UAF. Register soon; courses are limited to ten
participants and some are already sold out. Spaces are still available
in:
- Predators and Prey
- Glaciers of the Alaska Range (at 6,000 feet at the Kahiltna Basecamp)
- Art Design in Denali
- Landscapes of Metaphor: Wilderness Writing with author Pam Houston
- The Science of Fly-Fishing
- A Walk on the Wild Side for Curious Cubs (for families with children
10 and over) - Geology of Denali (Teacher Training)
- Bears of Denali (Teacher Training)
- Beyond Paper and Pencil (Teacher Training)
- Denali Fault and Nenana River Canyon (Teacher Training by river raft)
For a shorter excursion, learn all about the science of predators and
prey through the Denali Institute's "Wildlife Tracker" program, offered
twice every day this summer at the Murie Science and Learning Center.
$38 USD per adult, $20 USD for children.
