The Cryosphere Specialty Group is pleased to sponsor the 2nd Annual R.S.
Tarr Award for student research on any aspect of cryospheric research.
The R.S. Tarr Award is given to the undergraduate or graduate student
presenting the illustrated paper judged best in the special R.S. Tarr
Illustrated Paper Session held during the 7-11 March 2006 Association of
American Geographers Annual Meeting. The recipient of the R.S. Tarr
award will receive a $250 cash prize.
The illustrated paper must be completed and presented by the student,
however, the paper can be co-authored by the student's advisor.
Illustrated papers will be judged on their originality and contribution
to cryospheric science. The R.S. Tarr Illustrated Paper session will be
co-convened by Susan Millar (SWMillar [at] maxwell.syr.edu) and Andrew Klein
(klein [at] geog.tamu.edu).
To participate in the special session, each student must first submit an
abstract electronically to the AAG by Wednesday, 2 November 2005. This
provides the time necessary for the organizers to submit a completed
session package to AAG. Guidelines for Illustrated Papers can be found
online at http://www.aag.org/annualmeetings/Chicago2006/ill_paper.cfm.
After submitting an abstract to AAG, each participant should forward a
copy of the abstract and Presenter Identification Number (PIN) to Andrew
Klein (klein [at] geog.tamu.edu) for inclusion in the special session. PINs
are provided by AAG at the time of abstract submission.
Detailed submission instructions can be found at the AAG website at
http://www.aag.org/ and information about the award can be found on the
Cryosphere Specialty Group website
(http://www.tesseract.info/sites/cryosphere/competitions.html) or by
contacting one of the co-conveners.
