A free workshop on public issues and conflict management will be held at
the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center in Homer, Alaska on 19-21
April 2006. The overall goal of this workshop is to increase the
participant's ability to design, conduct, and control personal
interactions and meetings in public forums. By the end of the workshop,
participants should be able to:
- better understand how to use collaborative processes in resolving
coastal and marine-related issues in a public forum;
- use meeting management skills, knowledge, and competencies to plan for
and conduct effective meetings in a public forum; and
- deal effectively with the media in the public issues management
process.
This opportunity is sponsored by the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve
Coastal Training Program and the NOAA Coastal Services Center. Ann
Weaver of the NOAA Coastal Services Center will be the workshop
instructor.
