VECO Polar Resources, the NSF's Arctic Logistics Contractor, is seeking
a qualified individual to join their team as Planning Coordinator. The
primary responsibility of this high-level administrative position is
data gathering, maintenance, and upkeep for an extensive database of
NSF-supported projects, with a particular emphasis on IPY-related
projects through early 2009.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- a high level of interest in polar science and research support;
- three to five years experience in the use of relational database
applications;
- a demonstrated background in using various query tools to extract and
manipulate database information for analysis and reporting;
- a high-level understanding of database design and development concepts;
- the ability to research and analyze science project information using
various resources;
- excellent administrative and organizational skills;
- strong verbal and written communications skills; and
- the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking
environment.
The Planning Coordinator will be based at VPR's Littleton, Colorado
office, but requires the capability to travel regularly to participate
in planning meetings as well as to occasionally participate in fieldwork
at VPR-supported field sites. Interested individuals should e-mail a PDF
