The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management seeks a
Physical Scientist or Natural Resource Specialist to work with the
interagency North Slope Science Initiative (NSSI) group, which provides
oversight for research activities on the North Slope of Alaska.
The position is expected to perform reviews of proposals concerning
inventory, monitoring, or research initiatives regarding interactions of
human activities and natural systems on the North Slope. These reviews
are made to provide recommendations to the Executive Director of NSSI
and members of the North Slope Science Technical Group (NSSTG) on the
appropriateness of the proposals in relation to the mission of NSSI.
This position will aid in managing the NSSTG, including administrative
aspects in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act. The
selectee may be required to, at times, prepare and deliver oral
presentations to a variety of agency personnel or the general public on
the progress of NSSI approved inventory, monitoring, and research.
Database or project management expertise may be necessary to aid in the
development and design of both interagency and project management
databases for the NSSI.
