You are invited to submit an abstract to the following session at this
year's American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting:
Session C 06: Biocomplexity of Arctic Tundra Ecosystems
Session Description:
Arctic tundra is characterized by temporally and spatially dynamic
physical properties including permafrost, snow cover, patterned-ground
features generated by freeze-thaw dynamics, and hydrological gradients,
all of which influence ecosystem structure and function. Arctic regions
are experiencing among the most dramatic changes in climate on Earth.
Changes to interactions between physical properties/processes and biota
have the potential to alter the future state of the arctic and Earth
systems through mechanisms such as carbon storage, surface albedo, the
thermal state of permafrost, and the hydrological cycle. Understanding
the complex interactions and feedbacks between biota and the physical
environment across multiple spatial and temporal scales is critical to
projecting the future state of both the arctic and Earth systems.
Abstracts are solicited for presentations describing such complexities
using observational, experimental, and modeling approaches.
