You are invited to attend the first Great Alaska Weather Modeling
Symposium, which will be held at the University of Alaska Fairbanks
(UAF) on 13-15 March 2007. Symposium sponsors include:
- Alaska Region National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
National Weather Service
- Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, UAF
- College of Natural Science and Mathematics, UAF
- Geophysical Institute, UAF
- International Arctic Research Center, UAF
The symposium will provide a forum for the exchange of research results
and discussion of problems and new developments in weather modeling
activities related to the Alaska environment. Participation from
academic, research, government, and private sectors is encouraged.
It is anticipated that the symposium will primarily focus on the
following areas:
- Routine weather forecasting
- Aircraft icing
- Air pollution prediction
- Polar Weather Research & Forecasting model (WRF)
- Coupling of WRF with other models
- General aspects of Alaska weather modeling
However, all abstracts relating to weather modeling in Alaska are
welcome.
The deadline to submit a one-paragraph abstract for oral or poster
presentations is Tuesday, 9 January 2007. The registration deadline is
Tuesday, 27 February 2007.
