The Greenland IPY 2007 Space Science Symposium (GSSS-2007) will take
place in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, on 4-9 May 2007. The goal of the
meeting is to advance our understanding of solar-terrestrial
interactions at high latitudes by combining polar observations, related
theory, modeling, and numerical simulations. Particular emphasis will be
placed on past and present observations made from Greenland and the
region's future role as a research platform for solar-terrestrial
studies. Other scheduled topics for discussion include existing and
planned networks of ground-based instruments and space probes, analysis
and interpretation of observations from hemispherically conjugate sites
and relevant modeling efforts, and modeling results that indicate
specific needs for additional data acquisition.
The focus and intent of GSSS-2007 falls under Theme 5 of the
International Polar Year: "To use the unique vantage point of the polar
regions to develop and enhance observatories studying the Earth's inner
core, the Earth's magnetic field, geospace, the Sun, and beyond."
