The American Geophysical Union (AGU), an international scientific
association with over 45,000 members that stands as a leader in
educating the public in the Earth and Space sciences, is seeking a
public affairs coordinator to help keep AGU's community informed of new
developments in public policy.
The successful applicant will coordinate briefings, attend congressional
hearings, markups, and other functions on Capitol Hill in order to
connect AGU members and policy makers, as well as gather information for
the members advocacy website. Candidates are sought with an interest in
public policy and the sciences; excellent written, verbal, and
interpersonal skills; strong college level education (some course work
in science highly desirable); and a demonstrated ability to communicate
effectively at all levels. Experience working on Capitol Hill is
preferred.
