Toolik Field Station (Institute of Arctic Biology, University of Alaska
Fairbanks) seeks a motivated individual to provide Geographic
Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), and remote
sensing support for ecological research at Toolik Field Station on
Alaska's North Slope .
Requirements of the position include:
- refined spatial data development, display, and analysis skills
(GIS/GPS/remote sensing);
- frequent interaction with scientists, technicians, and students; and
- the ability to work semi-independently within the Toolik Field Station
GIS Program's strategic framework.
The successful applicant will be stationed at the University of Alaska
Fairbanks for eight to nine months per year and at Toolik Field Station
for up to four months per year.
Applicants should have a Bachelors degree and one year of GIS/remote
sensing coursework or experience. Preferred qualifications include a
Master's degree, three years of project-level or professional
experience, analytical remote sensing experience, and post-processed GPS
experience.
