The School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (SFOS;
http://www.sfos.uaf.edu) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF)
invites applications for two tenure-track, full-time Assistant/Associate
Professors in Chemical and/or Geological Oceanography.
Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching and have strong
scientific and academic expertise in chemical and/or geological
oceanography with a background in inorganic or organic marine
biogeochemical cycling, paleo-oceanography/climatology, or sediment
dynamics. The candidate's interests should include marine processes in
the northern North Pacific and/or Arctic Oceans. Alaska's marine
ecosystems offer phenomenal opportunities for research and applicants
should be interested in regional interdisciplinary marine research
themes. She/he is expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded,
sea-going research program, teach core and specialty oceanography
courses, and mentor graduate students. The successful applicant is also
expected to provide public service to the nation, state, and local
communities by serving on advisory committees and participating in other
university and community activities.
Qualified applicants must possess a Ph.D. in chemical or geological
oceanography or related field from an accredited university by the time
of hire, must be proficient in English, have university-level teaching
ability, and must have a strong research and publication record
appropriate to experience and date of degree.
