Contributions are sought for a new publication exploring the cultural
diversity of arctic deltas in Alaska and western Canada, specifically
the Kobuk-Noatak, Yukon-Kuskokwim, and Mackenzie river deltas. The
publication is being edited and compiled by Matthew Betts, Idaho State
University; Lisa Frink, University of Nevada Las Vegas; and Owen Mason,
University of Alaska Anchorage.
While all archaeological and anthropological research pertaining to
these regions is of interest, the editors especially encourage the
submission of papers relating to prehistorical, historical, and modern
cultural diversity. Of particular interest are contributions which
advance understanding of the evolution of delta societies, as well as
those that explore contrasts, comparisons, and possible connections
between these important regions. A key objective of the volume will be
to foster dialogue between Alaskan and Canadian arctic researchers.
Therefore, the submission and publication process will coincide with a
symposium during the 2008 Society for American Archaeology Conference in
Vancouver, Canada.
