Two events will be hosted by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) at
next week's American Geophysical Union meeting.
UCS and the Pacific Institute will convene a session on "Defining and
Protecting the Integrity of Science: New Challenge for the 21st Century"
on Tuesday, 12 December 2006, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. in MCS 308. To read

integrity. After reviewing the ways in which science can be misused,
participants will explore the most effective strategies for engaging
other audiences in the scientific integrity issue, including the media,
the scientific community, college campuses, local communities, and
Congress. The workshop is being held on Tuesday, 12 December 2006, at
12:30-2:50 p.m. and on Wednesday, 13 December 2006, at 11:00 a.m.-1:20
p.m.
The workshops include free lunch, but space is limited. To secure a
spot, please RSVP by 5:00 p.m., Friday, 8 December 2006, to Michael
