You are invited to experience a demonstration of PolarDome, an IPY
demonstration project that utilizes state-of-the-art digital theater
technology, this week in San Francisco, California, during the American
Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting.
PolarDome is an immersive arctic environment, featuring polar science
stories captured during the September 2006 Nansen and Amundsen Basins
Observational System (NABOS) Arctic Expedition. It is a great example of
how the latest in digital planetarium technology and software can be
combined to deliver a high quality, interactive, immersive program on an
18' diameter dome. Through a process of guided inquiry, participants are
able to virtually travel from the edge of the known universe to the edge
of the arctic ice and nearly everywhere in between. The PolarDome
program inspires minds and leaves a lasting impression on viewers.
