The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder,
Colorado, announces a postdoctoral research position in the Climate and
Global Dynamics Division as part of a multi-institutional,
interdisciplinary team producing a data-model synthesis of long-term
arctic climate variability.
The NCAR project contributes to the understanding of the arctic system
by placing the rate and magnitude of 20th century climatic change into a
firmer long-term perspective of inter-decadal climatic variability
spanning the last 2,000 years. The centerpiece of the project is a
synthesis of standardized, high-resolution proxy climate records from
lakes across the North American Arctic.
The successful candidate will be responsible for running and analyzing
simulations with the NCAR Community Climate System Model to assess
internal versus forced variability in arctic lake records over the past
2,000 years, with particular focus on the warm period during Medieval
times. The research will be conducted in collaboration with an
interdisciplinary team of NCAR scientists and external university
partners.
Applicants should submit a resume online (http://www.ucar.edu) or by
mail to:
Job Number 7028

Initial consideration will be given to applications received prior to
