The IPY National Committee of Japan announces "Asian Collaboration in
IPY 2007-2008," a one-day symposium to mark the start of the
International Polar Year. The symposium will be held at the Science
Council of Japan in Tokyo on Thursday, 1 March 2007.
The symposium will serve as a forum for the interdisciplinary exchange
of information regarding polar-themed research occurring inside Asia as
well as internationally with the goal of facilitating collaboration
among scientists during IPY. Scientists involved in any aspect of polar
research with projects taking place during IPY are invited to attend and
present a paper at the symposium. Papers are not limited to
IPY-sanctioned projects and participation in the symposium is open to
all scientists, whether working in Asia or internationally. Please note
that presentations should focus on planned or proposed research projects
only, not results of already completed research.
Scientists interested in presenting a paper should submit a proposal
that contains an abstract of not more than 200 words, the title and up
to five key words for the presentation, and names of author(s) with
affiliation and contact information, to Hajime Ito (ipy2007 [at] nipr.ac.jp).
The symposium is sponsored by the Science Council of Japan and the
National Institute of Polar Research.
