The Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) at University of
Manitoba is hosting a field school for graduate students entitled "Field
Topics in Arctic System Science (ocean-sea ice-atmosphere coupling)" in
Churchill, Manitoba, on 28 May-1 June 2007.
Course Description:
This course will introduce students to the multidisciplinary nature of
arctic system science from science theory to field sampling to modeling
and remote measurements. The interdisciplinary course themes involve
theory, measurement, and modeling of the arctic physical system by
examining the interaction of the ocean, sea ice/snow, and atmosphere
(OSA). Contemporary scientific theories coupling the OSA system will be
introduced including potential for changes/variability to these
processes. State-of-the-art field techniques will be introduced through
hands-on experimentation.

Course Logistics:
The course will be held at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre (CNSC)
in Churchill, Manitoba. Students are responsible for transportation to
and from Churchill and costs for room and board at CNSC. Enrollment is
limited to graduate students.
