An NSF-funded graduate research assistantship is available at Clarkson
University for a graduate student to participate in a project
investigating the strength and fracture of sea ice. The successful
applicant should be interested in predominantly experimental research.
The objective is to investigate the fracture behavior of sea ice both in
the lab and in the field (McMurdo Sound, Antarctica) using
servo-hydraulic and servo-pneumatic loading. The successful candidate
should be prepared and willing to do field research, working under
challenging conditions in a team environment. The research assistantship
covers tuition and provides a $20,150 per year stipend.
