Shell Global Solutions U.S. is seeking candidates for a Senior
Biologist/Ecologist position at the Shell Exploration and Production
office in Anchorage, Alaska.
The successful candidate will provide biological/ecological support
primarily to the Alaska development team by assisting in the design and
implementation of environmental/ecological monitoring programs in
support of seismic surveying, drilling, and production development
activities. Participation in stakeholder engagement as a scientific
representative of the Shell team in Alaska will be required including
regulatory interface, visits to rural villages, and participation in
advisory review panels. In addition to supporting Alaskan exploration
and production activities, the position will likely include some global
environmental project work.
An advanced degree (PhD preferred) in biology, marine biology, wildlife
management, or similar discipline is required and candidates should have
at least four years of experience in environmental consulting,
technology development, project management, or other relevant
experience. Candidates should have a background in ecology, marine
mammals, marine biology, or arctic ecology and must be capable of
designing, overseeing, interpreting, and presenting scientific studies
of biological resources and short- and long-term biological monitoring
programs. Some petrochemical industry knowledge and experience is
desirable and an understanding of U.S./Alaskan regulations and
regulatory structure governing biological resources is preferred.
