The University of the Arctic (UArctic), a cooperative network of 101
universities, colleges, and organizations committed to higher education
and research in the North, is accepting applications for the position of
Studies Catalog Director. The successful candidate will develop and
administer the catalog of courses and studies offered by UArctic member
institutions in the eight arctic nations: Canada, Denmark/Greenland,
Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and USA.

The position is based at the UArctic Catalog Office located at the
Scandinavian Seminar headquarters in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. The
UArctic International Secretariat will coordinate the Catalog Office
along with the UArctic Academic Office in La Ronge, Canada, the UArctic
Press Editorial Office in Alberta, Canada, and the UArctic Russian
Information Centre in Russia. The Studies Catalog Director will be part
of this international team collaborating on continuing development and
maintenance of the catalog.

Applicants should hold a Masters degree or equivalent and should have a
strong commitment to arctic studies and education. Knowledge of web
publication, navigation, and html-coding is necessary. Knowledge of web
crawler/fetch technology would be an asset, while knowledge of database
technology is not a prerequisite.

Applicants must be fluent in English. Knowledge of Russian or other
languages of the circumpolar North would be an asset, though not a
prerequisite. Other desired skills include strong written and oral
communication skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people and
cultures, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to
follow established processes.

Applicants must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a
complex work environment, carry out assignments, and adapt to changing
situations and priorities. National and international travel will be an
integral part of the position.

Applicants should have a valid United States work permit, a U.S.
residence permit, or U.S. passport. The salary for the position is
competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
