Sami University College invites applications for a four-year, full-time
position of Project Coordinator for the EALAT project.

Sami University College is the lead institution for the Norwegian
Research Council-funded EALAT project, which is a Reindeer Herders
Vulnerability Network Study that examines reindeer pastoralism in the
light of climate change. This IPY project is an interdisciplinary,
intercultural study that will assess the vulnerability of reindeer
herding, a coupled human-ecological system, to change in key aspects of
the natural and human environments. The project actively involves
reindeer herders, linguists, lawyers, anthropologists, biologists,
geographers, economists, and philosophers, as well as indigenous
institutions and organizations, relevant industrial enterprises, and
management authorities.

Sami University College is an institution for higher education located
in Guovdageaidnu/Kautokeino in northern Norway with Sami students from
the Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, and Russian parts of Sami. The Sami
Institute is a research institution affiliated with Sami University
College. Branches of research include Sami language, culture, reindeer
husbandry, and legal research.

Position duties include:
- mapping, planning, executing, and reporting on the project;
- financial management;
- searching for external project funding;
- maintaining contacts between project workers, employees, and others
related to the project;
- participating in raising awareness, information, and marketing of the
project;
- completing other tasks relevant to the project as given by the EALAT
project leaders and/or Sami University College Director.

Applicants must have a university-level education, language ability in
Sami, English, and one of the Nordic languages, experience in project
management, financial management, and administration. The position
demands a high level of independence and a proven ability to work with
others.
