A Town Hall meeting on "The Study of Environmental Arctic Change
(SEARCH): Current Activities and Community Input on Future Directions"
is scheduled for Tuesday, 6 December 2011 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Pacific
Standard Time. Held in conjunction with the American Geophysical Union
(AGU) 2011 Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California, it will take place in
Moscone West, Room 2009. Light refreshments will be served.
The Study of Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH) is a multi-agency
effort to understand system-scale arctic change
(http://www.arcus.org/search/). The Town Hall will provide a forum for
open exchange on several issues during an important stage in the
development of SEARCH.
The SEARCH Science Steering Committee met in August and made significant
progress on a new SEARCH vision and mission, and specific five-year
science goals. Drafts of the vision, mission, and goals will be
circulated to the community for input before AGU and discussed at the
Town Hall. Discussion at the Town Hall will also include activities
related to the Arctic Observing Network (AON) and the AON Design and
Implementation Task Force (http://www.arcus.org/search/aon/adi/).
Members of the arctic science, education, and policy communities are
invited to attend. We particularly encourage students and young
investigators to participate.
