The American Quaternary Association (AMQUA) announces the 2008 biennial meeting: Quaternary Ice Sheet-Ocean Interactions and Landscape Responses, to be held 5-7 June 2008, at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, in State College, Pennsylvania. The meeting will focus on a theme of general interest to a broad spectrum of disciplines (e.g., oceanography, paleoclimatology, glaciology, geomorphology, paleoecology, anthropology, etc.). Invited plenary talks will be given by experts in the field and a dedicated poster session will be open to all attendees.
AMQUA is a professional organization of North American scientists devoted to studying all aspects of the Quaternary Period, the last 2 million years of Earth history. The Quaternary Period is significant because the Ice Age environmental changes associated with the growth and decay of continental glaciers were the backdrop for global changes in floral and faunal communities, including extinction of diverse megafauna, and for the evolution of modern humans and their dispersal throughout the world.
All invited plenary speakers and those wishing to present a poster in the general session must submit an abstract. Abstracts must be no longer than 3000 characters and should be submitted no later than Wednesday, 30 April 2008, through the online submission form at:
http://www.meetingassistant2.com/AQABM2008/
